For 35 years they have providedstability and housing to hardworking, lowincome families who need it the most. Last Friday the TMT team put on our hard hats, braved the heat, and headed out to work on homes at Helensview, a new Habitat development in the Cully neighborhood of NE Portland. Once completed, Helensview will house21 hardworking, local families and approximately 60 children. We had a great day painting, digging, and bonding with other volunteers in our community.TMT is committed to being active in our local community and one of the organizations we support annually is Habitat for Humanity. The TMT team helped byputting the finishing touches on a few homes at Trillium Court in Southwest Portland. It was great opportunityto get out of the office, strap on our tool belts, and work with other community members to build homes for some deserving families.The5th annual Brews for New Avenuesfundraising event was on August 26th. They featured a live and silent auction for the rarest bears in this region and the most popular beers on tap for participants to enjoy. In 2015, they had over 700 attendees and raised $58,000! This year, tickets sold out and raised $150,000!.100% of the proceeds from Brews goes directly to New Avenues for Youth,a nonprofit organization that provides programs &services to prevent youth homelessness in our Portland community.TMT dedicated an afternoon to the Tools for Schools program at Grout Elementary School by packing school supplies into backpacks that were provided by Schoolhouse Supplies; a nonprofit organization that provides necessary school materials to students and teachers in public schools. Schoolhouse Supplies Tools for Schools program has put more than 114,000 backpacks in the hands of students in need for over a decade and supports schools where 65% or more of the students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. This year, the TMT team had a chance to interact with the children while helping them pick up their backpacks and school supplies the kids were especially enthused about the ability to color code their supplies. It was a great kickoff to their upcoming school year and we cant wait for next year!.Commissioned by President & CEO of TMT Development, Vanessa Sturgeon in 2011 to help beautify the site, these panels werepainted by local artists and homeless youth served by New Avenues for Youth. Sturgeon currently sits on the Board of Directors for New Avenues for Youth, a nonprofit that her grandfather, Tom Moyer, helped found. The organization helpsto empowerhomeless youth to exit street life. TMT Development is proud to have provided real life, paid job training for this project and continues to support the mission of New Avenues for Youth.The event is open to the public and all proceeds go to support New Avenues for Youth.
